Our Opportunity:
Are you ready to shape the future of fulfillment? Do you want to see your work drive innovation across a nationwide network? If so, the Chewy FC Science team is hiring!
We are on a mission to redefine how Chewy’s Fulfillment Network operates by building a high-fidelity Digital Twin—a real-time, AI-driven simulation that mirrors our fulfillment centers down to the last detail. Using the Nvidia Omniverse platform, we’re not just imagining the future; we’re creating it. Join us and be part of a team that’s pushing the boundaries of simulation, robotics, and computer vision to unlock new levels of growth and efficiency. Your ideas will influence key decisions, reduce costs, and elevate Chewy’s fulfillment capabilities to new heights.
We are hiring a Software Engineer II – Graphics/Simulation in Boston, MA, or Minneapolis, MN. In this position, you will join a growing team that’s working to build a Digital Twin of our Fulfillment Network. You will demonstrate your skills in computer graphics, simulation, scene rendering, and software engineering to build the foundation of the Digital Twin.
The ideal candidate is a curious self-starter who excels in navigating complex, high-impact projects. They are passionate about the ambiguous early stages of research and development in engineering technologies and are eager to maximise their diverse expertise in Computer Graphics, Rendering, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This individual adopts a fail-forward approach while working across a diverse set of peers with expertise in Industrial Engineering, Robotics, Computer Vision and Cloud Software Engineering. Your experience will be pivotal in advancing our innovative projects and delivering transformative solutions.
Bring your solid understanding of pioneering simulation and rendering technologies and excitement to work alongside an experienced team of engineers you help build, to create the tools which let us deliver the next generation of amazing robot behaviors.
What You’ll Do:
• Design, develop and implement software systems by integrating real-time data within a high fidelity, virtual, digital twin demonstrating Nvidia Omniverse / Isaac Sim SDKs
• Support R&D for new robotic and computer vision applications using digital twin by working with 3D artists, Data/Research Scientists, Robotics/Software Engineers, and Product Managers to develop and support high fidelity rendering pipelines and simulations in virtual environment
• Leverage Generative AI (genAI) capabilities to support new features including digital content creation
• Build genAI software pipelines for generating realistic synthetic data
• Build and optimize high performance simulations based on understanding of scene rendering, debugging, profiling and optimizing CPU and GPU code
What You’ll Need:
• Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or CS preferred) or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 4+ years of full software development lifecycle experience including the ability to develop efficient and maintainable Python or C++ code
• Demonstrated knowledge of the software pipeline and its application to computer graphics and / or Machine Learning
Bonus:
• While not required, familiarity with 3D graphics concepts like PIXAR’s Universal Scene Description (USD), ray tracing, lighting, shaders, physics engines, game engines, and 3D modeling tools will help you accelerate time
• Knowledge and experience in machine learning based Robotics or Computer Vision
