Responsibilities:
• Responsible for new and renewal premium in the region on assigned producers and/or accounts.
• Responsible for underwriting and pricing accounts in accordance with Starr Marine underwriting standards and personal underwriting authority level.
• Manage several producers and/or accounts and be the primary point of contact for these producers.
• Monitoring production, hit ratios, renewal retention ratios, spread of risk, and other production and quality measures.
• Possesses a working knowledge of all of Starr Marine products and work with the Regional Manger to identify new production opportunities.
• Provide informal and formal underwriting training as required.
• Mentor less experienced underwriting personnel on market conditions, competitors, relationship management, etc.
• Meets all file documentation standards, comply with underwriting and authority level standards and pass all audits (both internal and external).
• Responsible for conducting regular and periodic underwriting self-review.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of Starr Marine’s forms and endorsements, including various manuscript forms required on more complex accounts.
Skills/Experience Required:
• 3-7 years of ocean marine underwriting experience, demonstrated productivity and profitability with a progressive and disciplined underwriting acumen
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferable
