Position Description
As the Remote Operations Center Supervisor at FlexGen, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the 24/7 monitoring of our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will lead a team of operators responsible for ensuring the continuous and optimal operation of our customers’ systems, providing essential support to our clients and project teams. This role demands strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance. Overtime and on-call support will be required.
The Remote Operations Center Supervisor will reside in the Lifecycle Solutions team at FlexGen but will work with cross functional teams including Software, Field Operations, and Integration. This role reports to the Remote Operations Center Manager. This position is located at FlexGen’s Durham, NC office.
Major Job Responsibilities
• Supervisory Leadership:
• Lead and manage a team of operators working in a 24/7 monitoring center
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure team success and adherence to operational protocols
• Provide on-call support to ROC Operators.
• Remote Operations:
• Oversee the real-time monitoring of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to maximize uptime and availability
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, coordinating the appropriate actions
• Coordinate and insure timely execution of inbound requests to the ROC
• Shift Scheduling:
• Create and manage shift schedules for operators to ensure 24/7 coverage, including holidays and weekends
• Fill in for ROC operator shifts as-needed
• Administration:
• Approves Operator timesheets and PTO requests
• Ensures that time accounting is accurate
• Customer Service:
• Ensure the team of operators maintains professionalism when responding to customer requests
• Receive and troubleshoot customer requests
• Provide updates to customers and escalate to the appropriate teams if needed
• Field Coordination:
• Identification and resolution of faults and alarms
• Dispatching of field technicians and 3rd party maintenance providers for issues requiring service
• Coordinate with onsite personnel and ensure ROC safety protocols are followed
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to create or improve standard operating procedures to enhance the execution of FlexGen Lifecycle Solutions
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Proven experience in supervising a 24/7 operations center or similar environment
• Technical proficiency in battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, or power generation technologies
• Experience with CRM software such as Salesforce
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Familiarity with energy industry standards and regulations is a plus
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities.
• Leadership and team management experience is preferred
