TheCellar Assistantmaintainsthe wine cellar (ordering, receiving and storage) and oversees beer and liquorreceiving and storage for one or more restaurants.
EssentialFunctions
• Order wine and receive wine,beer and liquor deliveries, accurately reading purchase orders and productinvoices checking for accuracy, quality and safety
• Availableto work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
• Safely and effectively use andoperate all necessary tools and equipment
• Ability to effectivelycommunicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written andspoken direction
• Ability to multi-task calmlyand effectively in a busy, stressful environment
• Work in a confined, crowdedspace of variable noise and temperature levels
• Able to move and lift up to 10pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally moveand/or lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk foran entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which mayinclude stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
KeyResponsibilities and Duties
• Maintain product quality andsafety standards
• Reject any product not meetingquality or safety standards, making note on the invoice
• Store deliveries followingstorage and zoning procedures; update and develop new procedures as necessary
• Inventory supplies andcommunicate needs to Management
• Organize and clean cabinets,coolers and other storage areas in and around the cellar; Assist in maintaininggeneral cleanliness of the back of the house
• Maintain professionalrelationships with purveyors while upholding the highest ethical standards andcomplying with all company policies and procedures
• Attend internal and externalwine seminars and tastings
• Support Sommelier with creationand maintenance of wine training materials, and providing training andeducation to new and existing employees
• Proficiency in the use andoperation of all necessary tools and equipment, including the POS system
• Comply with all safety andsanitation guidelines and procedures
• Follow all rules, policies,procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in theEmployee Handbook
• Get along well with others andbe a team player
• Other duties will be assignedas needed
