We are the local council of a national organization that envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We serve 18 parishes in South Louisiana and have almost 13,000 girls who have gone through our program since 2009. We host 2 seasons a year Fall (Sept.-Nov.) and Spring (Feb.-May) and teams meet twice a week for 75-90 minutes for 10 weeks. We provide all of the training and materials and no running or coaching experience is required.,
You have a tremendous opportunity to help girls understand the true inner power they possess; to serve as the critical ‘fuel’ that propels them forward in life. As a volunteer coach for Girls on the Run, you can unleash the strength, bravery, and limitless potential of girls right here in our community.
What is Girls on the Run?
The Girls on the Run after school program centers around fun and accessible physical activity, ensuring we are strengthening physical as well as emotional health for girls in grades 3-8. With the help of coach volunteers, we explore physical activity as we support girls in
• identifying and processing their emotions
• standing up for themselves and others
• building confidence and resiliency
Not a runner? Not a problem! Girls on the Run coaches are as unique as the girls they serve. Just like the girls, many are not runners. They are people just like YOU who take great pride and care in role modeling character, connectedness, and inner strength.
Girls on the Run coaches are truly a reflection of the girls we serve here in our community. By being themselves, they prove that one person can really make a difference. And they have a lot of fun too!
Through a thorough training course, volunteers will prepare to work with other coaches to lead a small group of girls in developing important life skills and healthy habits. Teams will meet after school, twice a week for 10 weeks during September-November or February-April for the fun and interactive lessons.
There are girls waiting to participate in Girls on the Run here in our community this season. They
need you! We need you!
