The Strategic Head of Pricing and Contracting offers strategic direction to improve margins and ensure access to our profitable access to our portfolio of products, aiming to maximize business results. This leader oversees the contracting, pricing and Government reporting teams supporting the CSL Behring US Commercial business.
Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
•Responsible for strategically optimizing profitability across the complex portfolio of CSL Products driving >$5B revenue to achieve enterprise goals for margin appreciation.
•Provide prognostic insight and strategies to senior leadership by staying abreast to changes in the healthcare landscape and adjusts pricing and contracting strategies accordingly.
•Develop pricing strategies to ensure the long-term profitability of the CSL Portfolio of products ensuring compliance with national and local regulations.
•Manage the impact of regulatory changes (e.g., IRA, state transparency laws)
•Determine best approach to strategically leverage business with vertically integrated (e.g., demand aggregation) payers and to improve access and profitability.
•Represent the US business in leadership forums and communicate pricing insights, recommendations, forward looking strategies, and risks to senior stakeholders
•Provide strategic guidance and steer teams across market access, government pricing, legal, marketing and compliance to develop innovative contracts that can create competitive advantage
•Evaluate and prioritize contract development with key players – Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) Specialty Pharmacies, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Medicaid
•Implement tools and systems (e.g., deal analytics) to track contract performance and define interventions to evaluate and manage short- and long- term implications
•Deploy analytics to evaluate market scenarios and apply strategic thinking around pricing and rebates to ensure contracts meet overall business goals
•Oversee forecast models and partner with finance to ensure that price, discounts, and rebates are incorporated into projections
•Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and collaborate with business operations and IT to ensure data tracking and generation of insightful, timely, and actionable management reporting
•Standardize playbooks and business rules for government reporting and regulatory compliance
•Mentor and develop team members to ensure commercial capabilities evolve in line with portfolio development
•Collaborative approach to align and engage key stakeholders in the U.S. business (i.e. Marketing, Sales, HCS & finance)
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
•Minimum of 12 years of experience in pharmaceutical pricing, contracting, market access, or related roles, with at least 5-7 years in a leadership Demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing pricing strategies and negotiating complex contracts in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably specialty and rare disease
Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems, payer dynamics, and regulatory req. governing pharmaceutical pricing and contracting
