Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) has technology, engineering and program teams that educate and mentor colleagues to deliver leading Electronic Warfare capabilities. The Integrated Test Engineering (ITE) organization is seeking an experienced candidate to lead a multidiscipline highly technical integrated product line. The Test Engineering Product Line PoC acts as the technical and functional liaison to the program and is part of the iterative everyday work of running the Test Engineering business and owning all aspects of its success. The candidate will manage and work collaboratively to shape of the overall ITE business Test Strategies and architectural roadmap in concert with the program and product line objectives. This person will lead the development, organization, and maturation of highly-visible test activities within the product line.
Three separate positions exist for:
• AEWS
• TACAIR
• LCSS
Applicant must have a strong background in all phases of the engineering development lifecycle and specific working knowledge of Test Equipment Design, Test Software Development, Test Sciences, and architectures. Additionally, the candidate must possess the ability to develop proposals / Basis of Estimates (BOE’s) and define test solution architectures.
Must also have experience working in a manufacturing environment assessing factory test problems, determining root cause, and authoring specific practical recommendations in a methodical & disciplined manner with an awareness of cost and schedule to drive implementation.
Duties will also include providing director-level status and communication reports on product line execution, identification of critical staffing resources and tools which are required to expedite issue resolution and/or mitigate their reoccurrence, provide yield improvements & recommendations, and direct specialized contributors in support of these goals (Hardware Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Engineers etc.).
ITE’s vision is to be the authority on “Test” related scope activities for the ECS business area across all disciplines and all development phases: DVT, Production & Sustainment. ITE possesses problems with a mindset of Early Engagement product development skills and an emphasis on accelerated development cycle times targeting to achieve mission “time to need” objectives.
The BAE engineering organization has a wide range of follow-on projects. Therefore, this position is a gateway to other high visibility work and represents a viable long term career path and growth at BAE Systems for a person with aptitude and drive.
This position includes the following activities:
• Single point of accountability for all business area performance including technical architecture, staffing, proposals
• Acting as a Player-Coach, ITE POC exemplifies technical prowess of a lead engineer, combined with the communication and business savvy of a business area leader
• Current technical product knowledge in one of the following areas: AEWS, TACAIR, or LCSS
• Ability to develop and execute test architectures and strategies that ensure the success and alignment of key program execution objectives in alignment with the ITE Discipline Objectives and Initiatives
• Ability to lead and mentor Integrated Test Engineering Leads (ITEL’s) through one or more phases of the product lifecycle, including proposals, development, design verification, integration, test, transition to production and/or sustainment.
• Monitor the Cost/Schedule/Technical performance of all ITE efforts under the product line to maximize and optimize performance
• Establish, execute, and monitor program staffing profiles and develop the five-year staffing outlook projections on ITE scope of work
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of senior professionals providing support & mentorship in all aspects of technical and functional responsibilities
• Initiate Product Line Engineering Lead (PLEL), Program Chief Engineer, and PEM relationships as the primary information channel for which you use to steer your Product Line.
• Lead Large Proposals/Basis of Estimates (BOE’s) on Test Design Architecture for Business Development
• Obtain a solid understanding of the Engineering design process as it relates to Design for Test (DFT) and Manufacturability for Test (MFT)
• Support the test and troubleshooting of complex electronic systems, modules, and sub-assemblies, working directly with production and program engineering personnel as required.
• Interface with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause.
• Generate and implement improvements in product and test design and methodologies to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput.
• Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation.
• Interface with governmental customers, auditors, and suppliers as required.
• Provide training and support to manufacturing personnel.
• Support Root Cause and Corrective Action activities
• Provide daily work direction to other employees on a regular basis. Mentor peers and junior engineers in areas of expertise
• Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in technical areas. Exercise considerable judgment in determining objectives.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

• Eligible for DOD Security Clearance.
• Engineering Bachelor’s Degree (Associate’s Degree considered with applicable work experience)
• 8+ years’ experience working with complex electrical products in a development, transition to production and/or sustainment role
• 10+ years’ experience leading highly technical multi-disciplined teams on a development, transition to production and/or sustainment program
• Experience with the design, build, integration, test and/or sustainment of complex electro-mechanical systems, specifically high-speed digital communications, and RF designs.
• Experience executing multiple programs from a Cost Account Management (CAM) role utilizing the DoD Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
• Motivated self-starter with leadership skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment.
• Excellent independent problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability.
• Demonstrable project leadership on multidiscipline teams and projects
• Experience presenting technical information to program teams and/or customers.
• Ability to lead others to closure.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
• Active Secret Clearance HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Engineering Master’s Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems preferred)
• 10+ years’ experience working with complex electrical products in a development, transition to production and/or sustainment role
• 12+ years’ experience leading mid-large highly technical teams on development, transition to production and/or sustainment role
• Experience developing and executing test architectures and strategies in an highly visible leadership role
• Proven ability to Lead Projects and teams in an efficient manner meeting schedule milestones and budget in the design and development of automated test systems comprised of software and hardware products to control RF Microwave and Digital test equipment.
• Experience with Radio Frequencies (RF), high-speed digital, processor and analog designs & development along with an understanding of test methodologies
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $140690 – $239140

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
