Enrolled in an accredited school of Surgical Technology
Licensure, Registration, Certification:
BLS
Student Surgical Technologist Apprentice 1 requires the following:
• Field training in OJL competencies and pass first semester SUR courses with a grade of C or higher
Student Surgical Technologist Apprentice 2 requires the following:
• Demonstrated fundamentals in all OJL competencies and pass second semester SUR courses with a grade of C or higher
Student Surgical Technologist Apprentice 3 requires the following:
• Proficient in all OJL competencies and complete all courses required for surg tech AAS degree with grade of C or higher
Responsibilities
Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients under the direction of the supervising certified Surgical Technologist or RN. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with Infirmary Health’s standards. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Maintains aseptic techniques. Cleans, prepares, stores, distributes, and maintains various supplies, equipment, and instruments to assure efficiency operation and patient safety in the operating room.
