Job Purpose/Overview
Working under moderate supervision, the Staff Accountant maintains the General Ledger and Accounts Receivable of the organization and supports the periodic close process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Support period close process through posting entries and various other tasks
• Full-service management of accounts receivable
• Management of intercompany payables and receivables
• Recognize periodic revenue earned by using independent judgement and relying on established policies and procedures
• Submitting periodic financial results into various global corporate governance systems
• Account reconciliations
• Weekly banking entries and reconciliations for multiple domestic and foreign bank accounts
• Periodic accruals to match expense with the period incurred
• Assist with various other projects, such as ERP and other technical system implementations; responding to audit requests; creating and maintaining procedure documentation; various tax compliance related tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 3-5 years of accounting related experience
• ERP experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Products including Excel (i.e. pivots, vlookups), Outlook
• Ability to master various technical systems
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize workload in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Working Conditions
The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office or virtual environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment or a remote home office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, video conferencing and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams. Environment where pets are present
The Target Pay Range for this position is $62,000 – $75,000 annually. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
