EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Sr SATCOM Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division. This role designs and implements SATCOM solutions for DoD customer requirements. This position will be located onsite at our headquarters in Germantown, MD. Ensures product and solutions meet customer requirements. Coordinates product line enhancements, partner component configurations and integration activities. Drafts technical solutions for customer requirements and RFPs. Evaluates SATCOM components and integrates the same into proposed solutions. When called upon, provides support to the program team, as appropriate, through facilitation, information sharing, analysis and reviews. Works effectively with the customer, displays exceptional communication skills. Has experience working with US Government customers.
Responsibilities
• Performs customer requirements analysis and maintains product roadmap
• Leads partner SATCOM equipment evaluation, integration and procurement activities
• Coordinates and performs system acceptance testing
• Designs customer solutions for specific customer and product requirements
• Specifies equipment, generates, and issues purchase requisitions for equipment and services
• Performs engineering activities to include transmission planning, link budget analysis, network design, network enhancements, and technical briefings
• Performs commissioning of satellite or network equipment to support customer activities or test campaigns
• Supports RFP responses including requirements, compliance and gap analysis
• Supports Business Development activities as needed
Requirements
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Field or 5 years relevant experience.
• Relevant experience includes military experience on similar complex SATCOM equipment.
• Must be capable of obtaining and holding a U.S. government security clearance.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%, interface directly with the customer, work independently or as part of a team, and provide written status to management.
• At least three years’ experience in the following:
• IP network design, addressing, and routing.
• M&C systems and SNMP architecture and Network Management Systems.
• Communications systems design and implementation
• RF systems/SATCOM system design/implementation, modulation schemes/encoding skills.
• Understands spectrum management and planning.
• At least 3 years’ experience with RF test equipment to include: spectrum analyzers, power meters, frequency counters and signal generators.
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written).
• Ability to effectively interact with management, technical resources, and sales personnel.
• Excellent organizational and team skills.
• Ability to read and interpret procedures, work instructions, schematics, diagrams, and assembly instructions.
• Ability to write technical documentation, white papers or other supporting documents.
• Experience working in a military environment.
• Experience with MS Office products including Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, and Visio.
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
This position will have access to U.S. export-restricted materials. A successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or able to obtain U.S. authorization from the Dept. of State or the Dept. of Commerce to access such materials.
