The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) team owns Amazon’s global inventory management systems. We decide how much inventory we should have of every product Amazon carries and where it should be placed within our fulfillment network to ensure we delight our customers. Our large-scale automated inventory management systems are built entirely in-house and are pioneering the science and technology of supply chain planning and optimization.
The SCOT Forward Looking Inventory Planning (FLIP) team owns the systems and processes required to provide vendors with the advance signals they need to produce and place the right inventory at the right place at the right time. As BIE, you will be be working with product managers and engineers to design and develop new business intelligence solutions using large scale data technologies and drive better decision for Amazon and for the customers.
The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive experience in data warehousing and business analytics, with a proven ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data-driven solutions. They will possess excellent communication skills, allowing them to work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and implement reporting solutions that address their challenges in inventory planning. Additionally, the candidate should have the aptitude to incorporate new approaches and methodologies, especially when dealing with ambiguities, and a strong analytical mindset to navigate through complex scenarios. This combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills will make the candidate a valuable asset in the Forward Looking Inventory Planning team.

Key job responsibilities
• Create actionable business insights through analytical and statistical rigor to answer key business questions, inform decision-making, and develop recommendations to improve operations.
• Design and develop robust data pipelines, write complex SQL queries and ETL processes to build new metrics and analyses.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Data Scientists to -build critical business metrics, automated self service analytical dashboards and reporting.
• Navigate ambiguity around complex supply chain concepts to develop analytical solutions and provide mentorship to junior team members.
• Analyze relevant business data, uncover trends and correlations, and translate insights into clear recommendations to improve inventory planning and forecasting.
• Drive operational excellence by applying strategic thinking, making informed trade-off decisions, and aligning both business and engineering priorities.
• Maintain ETL and business metric and health of data pipelines
Basic Qualifications
• 6+ years of SQL experience
• 6+ years of professional or military experience
• Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
• Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
• Experience with AWS technologies
• Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
• Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
• Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
• Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software
• Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
