By working closely with the US government and coordinating grassroots advocacy efforts, our Corporate and Government Affairs team represents United on public policy and legislative issues. Key Responsibilities:
This role will enable United’s environmental disclosure strategy, inclusive of ESG reporting obligations, data aggregation processes and associated controls. This role will support the reporting and tracking of United’s ESG performance relative to our environmental sustainability commitments and disclosure demands, with a key focus on production of high integrity data, communicating with accuracy and consistency, and compliance with relevant regulatory expectations. Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional leaders to drive transparency of United’s environmental leadership. Support other duties as assigned.
Data Management and Digitization
• Perform calculations, prepare, and validate regulatory compliance reports for domestic and international GHG regulations, including the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve databases, dashboards and reports on sustainability metrics pertaining to company-wide environmental sustainability performance
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data underlying United’s GHG inventory and sustainability programs
• Support United’s Environmental Affairs Team in automating emissions queries and calculations and visualizing decarbonization trajectory under multiple scenarios
• Facilitate collaboration and communication across internal and/or external partners
Project Management and Communications Support
• In partnership with the Sr. Manager, prepare and complete multiple ESG disclosures in a timely manner while engaging multiple internal collaborators for input and review, using knowledge of ESG frameworks and regulatory landscape
• Understand investor expectations for corporate sustainability and ability to optimally communicate United’s ESG strategy and actions with an eye towards that audience
• Support the development of materials to communicate United’s ESG strategy to various internal and external audiences
• Assist in responding to questions from investors, corporate customers, etc. about information included in United’s disclosures
Technology and Market Research
• Support integration of disclosure standard methodologies by providing regular updates to appropriate collaborators on: latest developments in ESG disclosure landscape, ESG disclosures-related market and technology research, carbon accounting standard processes, and more
• Assist with gap analysis research for ESG disclosures, including ESG reports, CDP responses, and anticipated compliance with emerging and mandated regulations
• Leadership and Collaboration

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Policy/Sustainability, Business, or related area
• 3 – 5 Years of related experience

• Proven interpersonal skills and able to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

• Airline, aerospace or airport experience
• Greenhouse gas emissions accounting experience
• Access Database or PowerBI experience
• Previous administrative experience
• Proficient data skills including SQL, PowerBI, DBeaver, Python or others
