Job Summary:
As a Sr Population/Public Health Manager, this role works for the Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer’s Center (VMAC) on projects focused on advancing scientific knowledge to reduce the public health burden of mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and related disorders. Current active studies include multiple large NIH-funded projects.
• Vanderbilt Memory and Aging Project (VMAP) is a 5-year, $4.06M grant from the National Institute on Aging to support the longitudinal study investigating vascular health and brain aging. VMAP provides a unique resource to investigate the emerging intersection of vascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease on cognitive health.
• Subjective Cognitive Decline in Older Adults (SCD) is a 5-year, $4.1M grant from the National Institute on Aging to study the construct of “subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and identify profiles if SCD that are associated with different pathological pathways, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, neurodegeneration, neurovascular disease, and neuropsychiatric conditions, determine the relation between SCD and longitudinal cognitive trajectories and the modifying effects of age, sex and vascular co-pathologies.
The Sr Population/Public Health Manager is responsible for leadership and management of projects, including leading study teams’ coordination and communication, leading IRB compliance, grant and progress report preparations, and other research-related and administrative duties as assigned. Although some travel may be required, this position will be based in Nashville, Tennessee USA in the VMAC offices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Develops program plans, goals and objectives in collaboration with program and center leadership.
• Provides professional and/or technical leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities. Communicates within and across departments, partner institutions, funding organizations, and stakeholders to maximize information sharing and to achieve objectives.
• Cultivates an environment to encourage growth and development of the team and enhance the cross-functional knowledge base.
• Manages a team of contributors performing complementary functions in support of a cohesive objective or deliverable.
• Participates in institutional task forces and other special committees related to the achievement of goals and objective.
• Lead the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and leading the training of study teams on SOPs
• Lead the development of study timelines and supervise team members to maintain their task lists
• Supervise and train the CTRC staff to ensure protocol compliance
• Supervise and train the CTRC staff to develop and maintain protocol versions, consents, and other study forms
• Supervise and train the CTRC staff to schedule and organize all study meetings, including agendas, minutes, and assigning/following up on action items with responsible parties
• Supervise data management and participant chart finalization
• Supervise students and interns related to project activities
• Exhibits cultural competence and cultural humility.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and minimum of three years of related experience.
The ideal candidate has program management experience preferably from an academic setting. Proficiency in all Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is expected.
The successful candidate should be extremely organized, efficient, detail oriented, a team player, and a self-starter. Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to think and function independently. S/he must be able to multi-task while remaining helpful and courteous. Excellent time management and planning skills are essential.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is dependent on experience and education.
