GEICO’s Communications Department is seeking a strong writer and communications strategist to join the Internal Communications Team. In this role, you will be responsible for informing, engaging, and inspiring GEICO employees through effective, strategic internal communications. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment and can adapt quickly to meet the needs of our stakeholders.
You will report to the Senior Manager of Internal Communications and provide both strategic counsel and tactical support to advance our key business priorities and culture initiatives. The ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, write clear and engaging employee communications, and develop strategic communications plans will be essential to your success.
As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will:
• Engage regularly with Operations stakeholders to understand their key priorities and develop strategic communications plans and tactics to bring their initiatives to life for GEICO employees.
• Lead communication campaigns from start to finish, working to ensure employees across the company receive the right information at the right time using the most effective communications channel(s) based on their needs.
• Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Develop a variety of employee communications ranging from email messages and articles to and newsletters and digital signage.
• Help manage and maintain content for various communication channels based on trends and best practices, organizational priorities, and data-driven insights.
• Provide comprehensive support in researching, proofreading, editing, and ensuring the quality of various communications products.
• Become a subject matter expert and partner closely with leadership across the Operations organization. Work will also include support for projects in Cybersecurity, Product and Tech.
Qualifications:
GEICO seeks a creative, collaborative, and experienced corporate communications professional for this role. The successful candidate will have at least five years of relevant corporate communications experience. They will bring to GEICO a proven track record of supporting and driving successful internal communications initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5-7+ years of experience in corporate communications (must include some internal communications experience at a large company or organization).
• Strong written and verbal communications skills – including the ability to take complex information and distill it into simple, consumable content and compelling stories for employees.
• 2+ years of experience developing and executing strategic internal communications plans to support company initiatives. Experience supporting Operations teams and developing change management communications is a plus.
• Experience communicating with employees using a variety of communications channels.
• Proficient in developing content using PoliteMail, SharePoint, and/or similar internal communications platforms.
• Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven time and project management skills with experience managing projects spanning across multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to balance independent work with team collaboration to drive projects forward.
• Ability to analyze data to inform communications recommendations.
• Experience using AP style.
