The Role
This exciting Senior Director role will inspire and lead our team of 20+ customer-facing Solution Mid Markets solutions architecture organization consisting of Architects, & Solution Engineers, and solutions support team members who specialize in crafting solutions that allow customers to realize transformative business outcomes through technology to drive profitable growth for Lumen and our customers as they embrace emerging technologies. This team will work in partnership with our Sales, Customer Success teams and our Technology Architecture & Engineering teams as well as specialized sales teams in accelerating our time to go from discovery to design by identifying, proposing, and closing Lumen solutions for new business opportunities with new and existing customers.
This Senior Director role is accountable for ensuring Lumen achieves its sales and revenue goals across our Lumen portfolio with a focus on our growth product portfolio alongside additional focus on our Cloud Services, Managed Security and SASE product sets and provides leadership towards achieving maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values.
The successful Senior Director cultivates a world class team by continuously developing the team members, managing through change, and growing strong relationships within her or his ecosystem. The Senior Director will ensure our Solution Architects and Solution Engineers are visible, valuable, and accountable to our customers through opportunity engagement, disrupting the status quo and driving new business as technology ambassadors of our portfolio offerings.
This opening is in Lumen Technologies Technology Solutions Organization and is focused on customers across all industries and verticals within our Mid Market’s Sales Division in North America. This organization will be foremost in establishing Lumen as a trusted technology and strategic business partner in the eyes of customers and prospective customers by consistently presenting Lumen’s capabilities as an integrated platform for next generation applications, the data that powers them and the value they provide to the customers of Lumen’s customers.
Location
The professional in this position will reside in Ohio, Illinois, or Minnesota. Anywhere in the continental USA with a willingness to travel when required for business-critical client and internal meetings.
The Main Responsibilities
• Build a High-Performance Team: Hires and retains the right talent in the right roles; sets goals, delegates work, holds reports accountable; develops and empowers direct reports to make decisions and act.
• Demonstrates Lumen’s corporate values, maintains a positive and open demeanor, encourages different points of view, moves team forward through change; provides timely information; communicates context for business decisions; recognizes accomplishments; fosters teamwork and collaboration; drives continuous improvement in product and industry knowledge across the team.
• Participates in executive-level discussions with current and prospective Lumen customers to determine their innovation priorities and deliver guidance to support their business transformation efforts using the Lumen Platform. Participates in Lumen and industry subject-matter expertise communities ensuring success for customers that consume Lumen services.
• Acts as customer advocate, ensuring the right resources are engaged in sales efforts and serves as an escalation for requirement definition and solution design. Maintains ownership for the overall innovation strategy and solution development effort for how target customers will realize business transformation using the Lumen service portfolio.
• Forms strong working relationships that bridge technical and business functions and obtain buy-in across complex organizations. Demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust with customers and engage with a shared vision for transformation and success.
What We Look For in a Candidate
• Proven track record of leading technical pre-sales and/or consulting pre-sales teams in the achievement of sales results on a year over year basis.
• Possess knowledge of Cloud, Security Services and Enterprise Architecture and Design. Ability to discuss a wide range of emerging technologies and practices in support of customer evaluation and adoption. Broad understanding of key technology domains including premise and cloud infrastructure, security best practices, enterprise architectures, data and application frameworks, IT operations, and industry compliance standards.
• Excellent presentation, speaking and writing skills with the ability to effectively communicate a compelling vision and complex technical concepts to a broad range of audiences, including the C-Suite. Collaborative team builder with experience working across multiple business units to achieve results.
• Able to form strong working relationships that bridge technical and business functions and obtain buy-in across complex organizations. Demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust with customers and engage with a shared vision for transformation and success.
• The ability to overcome business and technical hurdles, demonstrating the business benefits and operational path required to achieve change. Able to maintain focus on objectives while also managing through ambiguous and dynamic business environments. Comfortable working in both a direct and matrixed operating structure.
• Highly proactive, consultative, creative and positive approach with a can-do attitude even in the most difficult circumstances. Strong continuous improvement mindset and passion to identify or develop strategies to maximize operational efficiency and return on investment.
• Minimum 10 years of success leading and managing large teams (80+ people) in the technology arena including work in a sales environment.
• Education: B.S. or equivalent work experience in the private sector or military. MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
• Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% of the time is required.

Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications. this is for base Salar only and does not reflect other incentives possible with the position.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$145890 – $194520 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$153570 – $204750 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$161250 – $214990 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$168930 – $225230 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
