As the Senior Director, A&R, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and discovering new talent for record label. Oversees sourcing new singings and maintenance of existing roster and its ongoing recording and budgeting processes.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do: This position, working alongside the Label Head (President) and SVP A&R, helps oversee the A&R function for Rounder Records to ensure all budgets are adhered to and that all production schedules and delivery dates are accomplished per plan for the year. The Senior Director oversees all new signings and new talent and keeps the label head abreast of all potential signings in the community. Works under general direction.
• Initiate outreach within the Nashville and surrounding community including attorney’s, producers, managers, booking agents and club proprietors to identify potential signings and maintain approaches until signings have been accomplished or abandoned while ensuring alignment with Rounder’s artistic direction.
• Frequently communicate with artists to establish a clear understanding of their goals and visions for their recordings, long-term career goals and musical ambitions, aligning a shared vision for both the current project and the records that follow it.
• Maintain an updated and organized shared budget outline and co-ordinate timelines with A&R admin. staying on top of expenses to avoid overages and assist SVP A&R in the particulars of Concord delivery requirements, AFM payments and mastering. Communicate daily progress on studio production and budgets.
• Assist SVP A&R in the song selection process in advising artists development ensuring recorded repertoire meets both artistic and budgetary efforts / restrictions.
• Nurture relationships with internal and external publishers.
• Oversee all publishing, production, hired musicians, producers, etc issues that might occur in the recording process
• Coordinate all communication with the A&R Administration Dept at CMG Label Services
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you’ll need:
• Minimum of 10+ years experience in A&R industry, with progressive managerial experience and a proven track record of A&R success.
• Deep and trusted relationships in the artist community relevant to Americana, Folk, Country, Alt-Country, Singer-Songwriter, Bluegrass, Indie Rock music with knowledge of the key players are with active, existing relationships with them. These include artists, entertainment attorneys, managers, booking agents, songwriters, publishers, record label heads, club proprietors, etc.
• Prior recording experience required.
• A proven leader/expert in the industry who effectively communicates ideas, learnings, and insights that complement the company’s vision.
• Proven stakeholder management with the ability to build strong, successful relationships founded on collaboration
• Ability to be proactive, decisive and ability to anticipate business’ needs a must!

• This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
