POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Automation & Industrial Controls Engineer is responsible for creating and implementing the strategy to ensure reliable, robust industrial controls systems throughout the production facilities.Subject Matter Expert across facilities for industrial controls and automation related projects. Responsible for leading efforts to develop and maintain company-wide standards & specifications regarding industrial controls, operations technology systems, and calibrations.Heavy focus is on OT (Operations Technology) with ongoing maintenance, responding to obsolescence, and supporting the implementation of improvement projects.
Primary business partner for the Engineering & Technical Services TEAm with the Information Technology (IT) TEAm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supports the development of Milos’s Tea Company projects from both a technical perspective and through business intelligence and expertise.
• One of the key subject matter experts within the company on controls systems including training/sharing best practices across the enterprise on troubleshooting industrial automation components such as 4-20ma/0-10V analog inputs and outputs, photo-eyes, switches, and is knowledgeable with motor drives, and servo motors.
• * Reads, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical schematics for all production sites
• Develops, edits, downloads, and uploads programs in RS Logix 5000, RS Logix500, and Studio 5000 to maintain systems. Trains others within the company on how the programs work and best practices in troubleshooting them in an operational environment.
• Use Allen Bradley suites, ME Transfer tool, Factory Talk Linx Network Browser, RS Linx Classic, ect.
• Has a deep understanding of how networks of systems operate and is able to troubleshoot systems (includes both remotely and onsite troubleshooting if needed)
• Diagnose problems with ladder logic and support the maintenance TEAm when necessary.
• Follow safety policy and procedures including, but not limited to, lock out-tag-out, hot work permit and confined space.
• Upholds and demonstrates leadership in all Corporate Responsibility programming including recycling, social advocacy, and MMAD volunteering opportunities.
• This position has food Safety Responsibilities.
• Other responsibilities, as necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met or that an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate’s degree in a related electrical/software technical field with 3+ years of industrial experience OR 5+ years of industrial controls and automation experience.
• Rockwell Automation Logix Programmer Certification (or equivalent)
• Extensive experience with PLC programming, industrial networks, and controls systems.
• Experience in PLC, HMI, and Microsoft office computer and software.
• Ability to read & understand electrical schematics, piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), tags, & symbols.
• Some experience in design aspects of P&IDs, instrument ISA data sheets, instrument installation details, low voltage wiring, physical conduit routing and cable tray design, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams and schematics including motor control.
• Capable to work both independently and as part of a larger group.
• Preference given to those with work experience using Siemens Step 7 and/or Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000
