Position Summary
The IT Application Specialist is responsible for development, configuration, enhancement and support of applications and capabilities within Research IT. As part of this role, you will take part in daily team operational activities that provide guidance and leadership to ensure the smooth execution of service delivery. The role will report to the product owner of the Research IT In-Vivo & Non-clinical Safety product team. The successful candidate will have a passion for team collaboration, customer service and technology.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop deep understanding of the applications, processes and data across the In-Vivo & NCRD team scope
• Contribute to tier 2 & tier 3 technical support (triage, break/fix, solution design & implementation)
• Participate in operational activities such as risk assessments, security assessments, incident response, certificate renewals, etc.
• Provide technical expertise in the capture, analysis and presentation of complex scientific data
• Manage technology assets, ensuring they are reliable, accessible and secure
• Develop & conduct structured and one-off training in use of In-Vivo & NCRD and other scientific applications
• Participate in Business Analysis and elaboration of user requirements for scientific applications and processes
• Ability to understand, prioritize and communicate IT needs to our business colleagues and stakeholders
• Contribute to team strategic application roadmaps and solution proposals
• Contribute in rapid prototyping and implementation of emerging technologies
• Actively participate in team SCRUM events to help the team sustain regular delivery of value to clients
Desired Candidate Characteristics
• Must have a strong commitment to a career in technology with a sense of urgency to support customer issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
• Proficiency in using Benchling or similar laboratory information management systems (LIMS/ELN).
• Understanding of molecular biology and laboratory workflows.
• Experience with data integration, API usage, and scripting languages (e.g. Python) preferred.
• Knowledge of data generated in the laboratory, and how to comprehensively capture structured meta data. Understanding FAIR data life sciences is strongly desired.
• Experience with Agile methodology is preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to understand the needs of the business and commitment to delivering the best user experience and adoption.
• Experience in developing and delivering training programs for end-users.
• Ability to provide ongoing support and guidance to users, ensuring optimal utilization of the Benchling or similar LIMS/ELN platform
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and workflows.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends and advancements.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 1-2+ years of relevant industry experience required.
• Must have Scripting (Python, R etc.) experience.
• Data analysis & visualization experience preferred
