Responsibilities
Job Purpose
This role will have accounting and reporting responsibility for entities involved in the origination of greenfield development and construction or acquisition of primarily wind, solar and transmission projects. Additionally, work duties include responsibility for intangibles and asset retirement obligations across various projects in development, construction and operational phases. This role often collaborates with team members cross-functionally in areas such as development, construction, finance, legal, and tax.
Key Accountabilities
• Hands on use, data entry and navigation of general ledger and reporting software
• Full accounting and general ledger responsibility including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and standalone financial statements including statement of cash flows
• Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements
• Ensure that monthly, quarterly, year-end and special project deadlines and requirements are met
• Review asset retirement obligations and intangible assets for consistency with company policies
• Review development and construction transactions for consistency with company capitalization policies
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement variance analyses of consolidated results for internal and external reporting
• Assist with corporate audit as it relates to assigned portfolio
• Prepare annual budgets and forecasts
• Read, interpret and properly account for project and transaction documents
• Ensure consistent application of US GAAP and IFRS
• Ensure accounting processes are in compliance with internal controls
• Communicate with individuals within the Accounting group, other departments of the company, including Development, Construction, Finance, Legal and Tax, and third parties to coordinate information gathering and resolve accounting, intercompany and investment activity issues
• Assist with process improvements and accounting system enhancements in accordance with management’s objectives and company resources
• Special projects and additional responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications
Educational Experience
College degree required. BS degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience is required. CPA and public accounting experience is a plus.
Required Work Experience
The following criteria will be used as a basis for Pattern to select a qualified applicant:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience working in the renewable energy industry highly preferred
• Experience working with external auditors
• Exposure to a strong internal control environment
• Multi-level consolidations with noncontrolling interests
• Equity and cost accounting for investments
• Multiple businesses with multiple functional currencies
• Purchase accounting – business combinations
Additional Requirements
Must possess strengths in the following:
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong “hands on” technical skills with a keen, thorough attention to detail
• Strong technical and analytical accounting background and familiarity or experience with complex accounting issues such as, consolidations, US and foreign GAAP issues, foreign currency translation, multiple corporate structures, equity and investment accounting
• Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow- through and minimal supervision
• Self-starter with flexibility, desire to learn, willingness to ask questions and take ownership of projects
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Technical Skills
Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint SharePoint and OneNote). The Company uses Microsoft D365 software, Hyperion Consolidation software and Blackline Reconciliation and Tasks.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $90,000 – $110,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
