Job Description
Essential Functions:
Uses the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to provide individualized and patient-centered care:
• Collects comprehensive and precise information that is relevant to the healthcare recipient’s overall health or current state.
• Examining the evaluation information is vital to identify the diagnosis or areas of concern.
• A patient-centric healthcare plan can lead to a decrease in healthcare costs, particularly in cases where the patient has previously been subject to hospital readmissions.
• Establishes a systematic plan that presents a range of tactics and methods to attain anticipated results.
• Executes the identified strategies and closely evaluates patient progress to ensure successful implementation.
• Care coordination involves identifying and addressing the needs of the patient.
• Health promoting practices target a range of factors that contribute to overall well-being, including physical, social, and psychological needs.
• By providing consultation, the advanced practice registered nurse and the nursing role specialist can influence the identified plan, improve the capabilities of others, and facilitate advantageous transformations.
• Estimating the degree of success in reaching the expected outcomes.
Continuously evaluates adherence to the ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2010) in order to improve patient care and promote professional growth:
• A structured methodology is the key to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
• It is imperative for nurses to keep up with the most recent advancements in nursing and to have the competency to implement them
• Every nurse should regularly evaluate their practice, adhere to professional standards, guidelines, and relevant rules and regulations to ensure safe and effective healthcare delivery
• Regularly attends professional development conferences and events to stay current in the field
• Nurses must work closely with patients and their families to build harmonious relationships and create a favorable environment that facilitates healing and the recovery process
• Ethical provisions guide practitioners in their interactions with clients, colleagues, stakeholders, and the public, ensuring a conducive and respectful work environment
• A culture of continuous learning, improvement, and research integration is essential to providing high-quality and patient-centered care
• When delivering nursing services, healthcare providers should consider the impact on the practice. This includes ensuring that nurses have access to the resources, support, and equipment they need to perform their jobs effectively. It also means addressing any issues that may arise in the delivery of care
• Takes on responsibility for managing change and navigating complex challenges in the professional practice setting
• Implementing practices that reduce waste, such as recycling and composting, can drastically reduce the amount of materials that end up in landfills and contribute to pollution

• Within the parameters of the state laws and criteria specified, registered nurses are responsible for providing excellent care, adhering to professional policies and guidelines, and accreditation regulations.
• Performs their duties with honesty, transparency, and accountability in accordance with the Code of Ethics for Nurses (ANA 2010).
Utilize technology and software tools strategically to achieve goals:
• Support and document nursing actions and patient care delivery.
• Actively participate in the organization by utilizing various work-related software applications, including email, iLearn modules, employee surveys, and important information related to benefits, compensation, policies, and procedures.
• Considers every opportunity to innovate and improve the quality of patient care delivery through creative problem solving.
• Responsibilities assigned beyond regular job requirements.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education – Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Certifications – Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Nurse (RN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing
Preferred:
Experience – 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience
Education – Bachelors degree in Nursing
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy work – exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
