At HCS the Residential Life Director has the primary responsibility of overseeing the residential life experiences of our students including, but not limited to, supervising and supporting dorm life, cultivating community relationships through shared activities, integrating residential life curriculum with academic curriculum, and creating opportunities for each student to know they are a valued member of our learning community. This position is on duty most weekends throughout the school year.
School year contract from late August through mid June. Six weeks of break during the school year. Housing, utilities, and most meals provided. Competitive compensation and benefits. Summer work and housing are also available.
Job Duties:
40% – Direct supervision of Dorm Parent and Relief Dorm Parent positions; Advocates and Communicates on behalf of Residential Life both internally and externally; Creates consistency between dorm life experiences while helping to cultivate specific dorm identities; Assures that dorms are well maintained, home-like environments that promote growth of living skills as well as a lighthearted sanctuary.
35% – Creates, co-creates, and implements shared experiences to cultivate community life and allow for students to experience growth and empowerment; Integrates shared experiences with HCS mission, values, and overall program for students; Communicates with all staff and students regarding shared experiences; captures shared experiences for communication to internal and external audiences. Primarily weekends.
15% – Individual student support through one-on-one sponsorship of interests, projects, and unique needs.
10% – Teaching Electives / Leading Activities
In carrying out their duties, the Residential Life Director also:
• Aligns with school Mission, Vision, and Program.
• Engages with students and builds positive relationships.
• Participates in meals and community life in addition to job responsibilities

Required Qualifications:
• Residential experience in an academic or therapeutic setting.
• A bachelor’s degree (complete or expected in next 24 months) in child development, outdoor leadership, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive physical and background check.
