Position Summary:
Develops, plans, and manages all research and related activities of laboratory project(s) and events. Functions in a manager capacity in the laboratory.

Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Oversees all aspects of the program activities. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors project progress. Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures.
2. Manages the laboratory research agenda, provide supervision and guidance to the research personnels with specific laboratory knowledge and techniques, such as live cell and animal imaging, bone marrow transplantation, primary hepatocytes cultures, basic molecular and biochemistry techniques, and mouse line maintenance and genotyping etc.
3. Facilitates collaboration between lab members, research scientists and clinicians internally and externally.
4. Assists with annual budget, negotiates service contracts, reports on progress and/or authorize expenditures.
5. Informs upper management of key activities and makes periodic progress reports.
6. Works closely with internal departments regarding strategy and collaborative opportunities.
7. May assist in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.
8. Communicate with the community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes.
9. May manage Human Resources activities for direct report in regards to recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
May require research-specific skills such as live animal imaging techniques.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of relevant experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
