Research Chemist
Position Overview
We are seeking an individual that will be part of a dynamic team with a proven track record of inventing, developing, and commercializing FDA registered medical devices. In this role, the individual will routinely interact with the Business Development, Clinical Affairs, and Manufacturing roles.
In This Role, The Associate Will Oversee The Following
• Research & Innovation
• Develop a “Deep Science” understanding of both commercial and new technology platforms, with an emphasis on cohesive / adhesive chemistry formulations.
• Determine the appropriate performance tests, how they correlate to the final product performance, gather the data, and present the data internally and externally
• Leading the qualification, from lab to scale up, through internal and external partners
• Leading new raw material introductions by collaborating with RA/QA,
• Manage the Intellectual Property Portfolio for the Business
• Identify routes to manufacture new product formats or significantly improve manufacturing methods for current products
• Review literature, and provide education to the business on novel research that is related to cohesive, adhesive and tackifier chemistries.
• New Product Development
• Develop, define, implement, communicate and manage new product development projects to defined timelines.
• Participate in new product development activities to ensure proper quality assurance and control plans are implemented prior to beginning manufacturing (Design Controls)
• Conduct and document packaging and sterility validations
• Develop and execute test protocols, interpret results, and present / publish associated reports
Requirements
• PhD. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science and Engineering or MS degree w/ >5 years of experience in new product development and Research, in lieu of PhD
• Travel: 2-5 days / month
• Hands on material characterization experience (required)
• Design of Experiments and Strong data analysis skills (required)
• Experience working in a regulated industry, ISO 13485 experience is a plus
• Based at RMC – Spartanburg, SC
