Job Summary
Radiology Technologists often work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, and their ability to multitask and work efficiently is crucial. They must be able to balance the needs of multiple patients and ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
Carrying on tasks of maintaining ordered exam rooms, safe patient transport, appropriate data entry into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam preparation instructions, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as needed, the Technologist is responsible. Knowledge of the PACS is acquired and retained by the Technologist. The Technologist may share on-call responsibilities and be available during evenings, weekends, and holidays as directed by the department leader. Equipment malfunctions or failures are reported to the immediate Supervisor, Bio-med service, or Maintenance staff, as required. The Technologist follows the directives and policies of the Medical Imaging Department, facility, and organization.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
• Possessing an excellent understanding of patient positioning, CR/DR principles, Fluoroscopy, as well as quality control and image processing, the personnel displays extensive knowledge of acute care environments. Moreover, they exhibit admirable planning capabilities in managing their work and may assist physicians in performing procedures.
• Striving to provide unparalleled customer service to everyone.
• I will partner with other imaging departments to ensure that all patients receive timely, effective care with minimal disruptions and delays.
• As part of its commitment to education, radiology technologists at Monument Health will be instrumental in offering a supportive environment for students on clinical rotations.
• Shows a dependable talent for carrying out several challenging responsibilities with ease and effectiveness, while also playing a crucial role in the technical education of radiography students, imaging staff, and medical professionals.
• Maintaining a hygienic atmosphere and complying with infection-control regulations are necessary to protect the well-being of patients and staff alike.
• Optimal radiologic safety measures are essential to reduce the exposure of both patients and staff to harmful radiation effects, and this involves using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding techniques, exposure factors knowledge, and consistent monitoring using radiation badges
• Interacting with patients and others in a friendly, affable and cooperative manner is vital.
• Fluent in the proper handling and movement techniques of patients when using ceiling and other lifts.
• Helps preserve the department’s productivity by ensuring that the workspace is consistently clean and tidy, executing preventive maintenance tasks on schedule, monitoring supply levels, and promptly reporting equipment malfunctions.
• The usage of correct amounts of contrast is meticulously prepared and administered, with adherence to the sterile procedures described in the Infection Control guidelines. The details of the administration are conscientiously documented in the patient’s file. Successful completion of injector training has been confirmed.
• Scrutinizes the patient’s illness paperwork, medical history, and physician’s instruction. Works in partnership with radiologists to handle any inquiries. Identifies the proper placement and selects the appropriate patient.
• Age-specific patient interactions are a critical part of the assistant’s professionalism.
• All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education – High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
Graduate – Radiology Program
Certification – **Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – American Heart Association (AHA); Radiologic Technologist (RT) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Preferred:
Experience – 1+ years of Radiographer Experience
Physical Requirements:
Heavy work – exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
