This is an entry level position for sleep diagnostics. Employees will develop a complete understanding of all processes and procedures related to sleep diagnostics and will become registry-eligible for the BRPT registry exam. Patient testing is the primary function of this position. Therefore, employees will develop the skills necessary to accurately perform head measurements and successfully place electrodes using the International 10-20 Electrode Placement System, and to analyze and interpret data is required for clinical decision-making and appropriate patient care responses. Learning to score sleep studies is a secondary function of this position.
Education: High School Degree / GED is mandatory. Further, employees in this position will be working to complete the following criteria for continued employment:
• Successfully complete 18 months successful work experience as a polysomnographic technologist trainee meeting all competencies and requirements
• Successfully complete the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s A-Step 14-module program, which will enable them to meet “registry eligible” status for the PSG Registry exam offered by the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists.
Experience
Prefer previous healthcare experience.
Additional Skills/Abilities
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must have the ability to work with others in a positive and supportive manner.
Certification of BLS is preferred for hiral processes while mandatory upon completion of the provisional period.
