Product Development Engineer II
The Product Development team is a division dedicated to leading projects from concept idea through First Validation Run at Niagara. We strive on our strong analytical competencies, detailed knowledge of the product development process, our ability to build and maintain positive relations, and our knowledge of Niagara’s core competencies to help us achieve our goals of bringing products to market.
The Product Development Engineer II will be responsible for providing support to cross-functional groups during the product development process for all of Niagara’s products and opportunities. This is a cross-functional position that will interface with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D, PLM, etc.
Essential Functions
• Maintain and update product specification database, communicate upcoming product introductions, and coordinate activities as it relates to the product development and commercialization process.
• Maintain strategic relationships with internal and external customers using effective communication methods
• Collaborate with the product lifecycle department in the following areas:
• Act as department representative to inform internal organization of engineering department projects
• Approve bill of materials for new and existing products
• Managing new product material set up and product changes in PLM system.
• Monitor and input product information into system
• Manage relationships with Sales group and assist in the customer bidding process, create financial models for acquiring new business, and develop product/ packaging specifications and requirements for potential customers.
• Assist product development team for creating and tracking ECR’s (engineering change requests) that include preforms, closures, bottle types, stretch film, shrink wrap, pallets and other packing materials
• Approve and validate all Engineering Change Requests
• Creation of new configurations, new pack size, new pallet configuration, new pack type, tier sheet addition or removal, stretch film quantity
• Manage new part item for bottles, caps and preforms
• Collaborate with packaging team to validate and create new product specs and product documents
• Assist with financial analyses for cost-savings, light weighting and retrofitting internal projects
