Position Summary:
Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
UTHealth Urgent Care clinic in the Bayshore area. This position will work at our newly renovated Bayshore Multispecialty Clinic @ 11476 Space Center Blvd.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Nurse Practitioner with at least 2 years of experience and 1 year of urgent care experience. This PRN position will be evenings, Monday – Friday, 5 PM-9 PM, and on weekends, Saturday, 1 PM-9 PM, and Sunday, 8 AM-8 PM.
If you are a full-time state employee at another state agency, you cannot work as a PRN/Part-time employee for another state agency.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Performs relevant patient assessments and physical examinations.
2. Coordinates, directs, and implements patient’s plan of care.
3. Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
4. Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
5. Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.
6. Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.
7. Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
8. Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient’s recovery.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
Current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP, and specialty certification as required by department
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
Minimum Education:
Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters degree in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
