About the Job
Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Private Client Group Sales Manager. This position is expected to grow trust, investment management, wealth planning and private banking activities by providing vision, direction and leadership. Will have sales responsibility for generating trust and private banking new business. This individual will be part of the Private Client Group management team.
Responsible for growth strategies including marketing, accurate forecasting, incentives, scorecards and developing internal and external referrals. Key leader in creating and building out our financial planning capabilities. Manages risk across all areas of responsibility by continuously ensuring controls are in place and evaluating the risk of new opportunities. Possesses technical competence, broad business acumen and the ability to incorporate compliance measures into the day to day functions and future strategy of the business.
Team player who possesses the ability to identify talent, develop and coach people. Adept in the management of change, with the ability to assess partnership needs and articulate a vision.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Sales Management:
Drives new client acquisition within the high net worth market. Delivers effective coaching to enable trust relationship managers and private bankers to successfully evaluate a client’s financial health and then provide a full array of solutions including trust services, investment management, wealth planning, banking and credit products. Directly manages 10-12 trust relationship managers and private bankers. Responsible for robust pipeline management to achieve desired production and revenue targets. Develops business strategies to support sales objectives. Designs and implements business plans to effectively leverage partners within the bank to generate greater cross sell and revenue enhancement opportunities. Implements and fosters a dynamic sales culture within the organization and effectively leads and coaches the bank sales process.
2. Talent Management:
Responsible for all aspects of talent management. Manages recruitment, training, and motivation of highly skilled sales team. Assesses staffing issues and performance gaps, and then provides effective coaching. Sets goals and is accountable for competency and goal achievement. Has accountability for target revenue achievement including profitability, cost control, compliance, and operational and risk management activities. Expected to develop a diverse, highly skilled team that will deliver the full range of private client group’s capabilities to meet, anticipate, and offer expertise related to the complex needs of clients in this segment. Key leader in selecting financial planners, including training and coaching to provide a seamless delivery and implementation of plans in a team environment.
3. Organizational Integration
Demonstrates ability to engage, lead, sell across the organization, taking a big picture approach. The person in this role will maintain and deepen relationships with internal and external partners and develop a strong reputation in the business community. Works very closely with portfolio managers and administrators for a seamless client onboarding and transition experience. Is an ambassador for the Private Client Group both inside and outside of the Bank.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• A senior business professional with broad sales experience in trust, investment management and private banking.
• CFP is required. Experience in creating comprehensive personal and business financial plans for high net worth clients. Ability to source planning opportunities through internal and external resources.
• An undergraduate degree is required. An advanced degree and/or professional certification is preferred.
• 10-15 years of experience leading sales teams and revenue/expense management is preferred.
• Talent management including recruiting, training, coaching and motivating.
• Strong leadership abilities combined with superior long-term and short-term planning and problem-solving skills.
• Strong strategic vision and organizational planning skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.
Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.
Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
