Position Overview
The Healthcare Technologies team builds solutions that enable healthcare-specific
platform capabilities for on-premise and cloud offerings. This development role in the
Database Platforms department will contribute to the InterSystems IRIS for Health and
InterSystems Health Connect products.
The Healthcare Technologies team needs an experienced full-stack developer who can
architect and maintain a suite of Angular applications for users of the FHIR server and FHIR
repository including interface engineers, data analysts and system administrators.
These applications are a critical part of our strategy to compete in the modern healthcare
industry.

This position is in the InterSystems headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities
A developer in this role is expected to:
• Define requirements from abstract needs created by product management.
• Lead architectural decision-making related to the user interface and the backend.
• Design technical solutions in collaboration with a small team of developers and UX
designers.
• Implement product changes and automated tests and be accountable for the
quality of their code.
• Follow the team’s development workflow including use of source control, code
reviews, and clear documentation.
• Estimate project scope, report on progress, and proactively manage expectations
on delivery timelines.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of FHIR technologies and establish themselves as a
subject matter expert and a point of contact for other teams.
• Mentor junior developers.
• Regularly communicate with the Data Platforms Developer Tools team and with
fellow contributors to the UI framework shared across the company.
• Occasionally communicate with the release engineering team responsible for
continuous integration infrastructure and product packaging and distribution.
The technology stack includes Angular, TypeScript, ObjectScript and InterSystems IRIS.
Position Requirements
• College degree in a technical field like computer engineering or computer science.
• 5+ years of experience with Angular or other web frameworks.
• 5+ years of experience with Python, Java or a similar programming language.
• Experience developing secure REST APIs.
• Motivated to contribute to the platform’s industry leading position.
• Motivated to learn and adopt new tools and technologies, especially in the cloud.
• Able to communicate strategy, designs, and tradeo8s to management and peers.
• Self-driven and confident in their skills.
• Motivated by excellence and constant improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
• Graduate degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Professional experience building secure web services with OAuth 2.0.
• Professional experience with micro-service architecture.
• Professional experience with health messaging standards like FHIR.
• Professional experience with ObjectScript.
• Professional experience with healthcare IT interface engineering
