The Philadelphia School (TPS) is seeking a part-time High School Placement Coordinator for the 2024-25 academic year. We are a Preschool through 8th grade school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with an enrollment of 410 students. Position Description:
The High School Placement Coordinator will work closely with the 8th grade team and Director of Grades 4-8 to coordinate all aspects of the high school admissions process. This salaried position will generally require 2-3 days of in-person work per week (averaging 20 hours/week, but with variation), with some flexibility for remote work possible at certain times of the year. It will entail some evening commitments and due to the cyclical nature of the work, will have varying intense and quiet periods. Specifics of days and hours will be determined with the Division Director.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Shepherding the high school placement process
• Meeting and communicating with families to advise and counsel on the process
• Coordination of high school fair, alumni panel, and parent info sessions
• Working with students, both as individuals and as a group, on preparing for high school visits and interviews
• Writing recommendations in consultation with the Director
• Coordinating teacher recommendations and transcript submission
• Acting as liaison to schools to which our students apply
• (note: with a candidate new to TPS, this will also require time spent with the team to get to know students early in the year.)
• Supporting middle school operations
• Additional duties as assigned in quieter periods of the year; to be aligned with skill set of the candidate.
Qualifications:
• B.A. required; Master’s Degree in a related field of study preferred
• A minimum of 2 years admissions experience preferred
• Proven success as part of a collaborative team
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Dedicated to being a student advocate
• Proven track record as a goal-oriented team member and problem-solver
