General Job Description
• The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, creates treatment plans, and provide treatment for pediatric patients with fine motor, sensory, or feeding concerns. This position will also focus on prevention by developing and providing early intervention programs/services.
Job Roles
• Communicates and engages with patients and/or parents/caregivers regarding evaluation results, treatment plan, goals, and treatment sessions. Provides home program activities to patients and/or parents/caregivers to ensure carryover to the home environment.
• Communicates regularly with Referral, Case Management, Care Coordination, and Scheduling staff. Makes recommendations and follows through with referrals to outside agencies when appropriate. Assist with case management and referrals to external agencies, physical therapy, and speech language pathology.
• Completes all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards; in addition, documentation complies with patients’ insurance requirements.
• Designs an appropriate and effective treatment plan and works within scope of practice at all times. Monitors progress of treatment goals through periodic observations and assessments. Conducts re-evaluations when indicated.
• Evaluates patients referred for occupational therapy, consultation, and/or early intervention services, for pediatric assignments. Performs evaluation according to each patient’s needs, physician recommendations, and specific program guidelines/protocols.
• May provide treatment at different clinic sites, off-sites, or patient homes based on caseload and department needs. Plans effectively for efficient use of time and resources when providing home visits.
• Monitors and manages own schedule. Communicates with scheduling staff to keep schedule full.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
• Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Requires an active Class C California driver’s license, proof of liability insurance at $100,000, on vehicle used. No more than 2 points in past 12 months; No suspensions in last 2 years for moving violations; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 5 years. No license revocation in 7 years.
• At least 2 years of experience in Occupational Therapy is required; Pediatric specific experience is required and experience in early intervention (0-3) is preferred.
• California State licensure as an Occupational Therapist; Current National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy; Registered Occupational Therapist.
• Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
Experience/Specialized Skills (including Language)
• Ability to perform patient evaluations, synthesize patient information and determine whether the problems to be addressed are within the scope of practice for an OT.
• Ability to provide appropriate interventions based on clinical judgment about diagnoses and prognoses, and based on patient/client goals.
• Ability to use professional literature, evidence based research and continuing education content to make practice decisions.
• Basic computer literacy (i.e., use system to manage and schedule appointments, access electronic medical record information).
• Bilingual English-Spanish is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Intermediate written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Occupational Therapy principles, practices, evaluation and treatment techniques, including knowledge of early intervention services (for Pediatric assignments).
• Knowledge of therapy techniques and their applications to various disorders, ages, and personalities.

$85,000.00 – $108,887.17
If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
