, Job Description
• This position is contingent upon award of contract.
The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary duringthe surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates theneeds of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care duringthe operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
, Qualifications
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completed certification testing by the Association of Surgical Technologists is desirable.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Common Access Card (CAC) or ability to obtain one.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
• US DOS clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
• Must be able to relocate to Iraq.
• A valid US passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
Experience Preferred:
• Experience on a military site, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Required Skills And Knowledge
• Two years experience as a surgical technician is required or have the military equivalent training course with Certificate of Completion (i.e. 68D, HM8483, 4N1x1)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
Key Responsibilities
• Performs necessary tasks for the Scrub role using technical skills
• Assist the Anesthetist with patient positioning.
• Assures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeuticenvironment.
• Assembly, Wrapping, and Sterilization Instruments Sets as necessary.
• Disinfection, Decontamination, and Sterilization of the Surgical Instruments
• Ensure proper instrumentation for each procedure.
• Follows all principles of sterile technique.
• Loading operations of the Stream Sterilizer
• Participates in all counts (instruments, sponges, sharps, etc.) as necessary
• Proper Storage and Handling of surgical instruments to include testing of Biological Indicators
• Assists with the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and
• outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of
• knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
• Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital
• Association’s Bill of Rights for patients.
• Assists with the managing of day-to-day activities and prioritizing tasks.
• Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support
• software.
• Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
• Performance of other duties as assigned.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
