The objective of this post is to provide evaluation and patient care based on the individual’s needs, regardless of their age, to achieve maximum functionality and independence. Accurate documentation of this care is of utmost importance. The role also requires performing necessary operational tasks for the Rehab Services team. Additionally, the occupational therapy services provided by the incumbent have to include outreach sites as and when required.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
• Demonstrates capable critical thinking and sound judgment in the provision of medical care. Carries out all stages of therapy in accordance with established national guidelines, departmental policies and current, evidence-based benchmarks. Furnishes interventions that meet or exceed the outcome benchmarks set by the department.
• Medical necessity must be supported by processing documents accurately and on time, as required by the department’s standards.
• Arranges the necessary paperwork accurately for billing purposes while ensuring authorized charges for services provided. Shows proficiency in time management in accordance with the current departmental productivity benchmarks.
• Takes the initiative to improve individual professional growth. Completes all necessary education requirements and obtains appropriate licensure/certification within the designated timeline as mandated by Monument Health system. Advocates for the profession proactively within Monument Health and in the larger community.
• Supervises in accordance with the prevailing standards established by professional associations, state regulations, and federal laws.
• Implements a patient-centered approach that involves educating and collaborating with patients, family members, and other caregivers in their treatment, goal setting, and discharge planning as required.
• Meets all necessary regulatory and legal requirements regarding insurance, as well as state and national administrative bodies and accrediting bodies.
• All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education – Bachelors: Occupational Therapy
Certification – Occupational Therapist (OT) – South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners
Preferred:
Education – Masters: Occupational Therapy
Physical Requirements:
Very Heavy work – exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
