WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Regional Practice Area Senior Manager for the North American Energy Practice at BCG, you will act as a thought partner, supporting the regional Energy Practice Area leadership in setting the strategic agenda and defining implementation activities for the business while also providing ad hoc support for priority initiatives across the practice. You will work closely with PA leadership to drive coordination and development of the Energy PA business. You will manage the creation of and facilitate the implementation of the people plan, supporting regional Practice Area leaders on recruiting, staffing and pipeline topics. Other tasks include business analysis and planning, lead organization, internal communication and affiliation activities.
In addition, you will manage the commercial plan and monitor the state of the business (e.g. lead flow, proposal pipeline and sold cases), reaching out to relevant Client Officers/Managing Directors. You will provide inputs to the Practice’s Marketing Partner and Marketing Manager to plan publications, newsletters, internal and external events for the North American Energy business; develop a seat at the table strategy for the PA and plan activities; own the PA’s content on BCG.com and Perspectives and be the liaison to industry platforms and associations that the sector partners with.
Strategy development, planning and operating model formalization for the practice:
• Together with Regional Leadership team – develop annual plan, set priorities, and guide implementation/ tracking of progress
Business development and execution support:
• Establish ongoing, early visibility on commercial pipeline using Clientview, working with industry and offers squad leaders
• Own-end to end ongoing and ad-hoc business reporting needs for the region
• Act as a go-to-person/ expert navigator for proposal and case teams with commercial/ content needs
• Support North American regions’ client prioritization and planning activities
• Support Marketing, “Seat at the Table” and other business community activities as needed
Affiliation, engagement, communications, and meetings:
• Ideate communication plan, keeping pulse with other members for the leadership team and shaping the agenda; ensuring things go out
• Work with regional Practice Area leaders on all communication forums (e.g., building materials, etc.)
• Work with leadership to set agenda for and develop communication for Energy affiliates in the region
• Drive planning for regional meetings including Energy sessions at functional conferences in NAMR
• Project manage affiliation events in the region with PACs (more focus on agenda items)
• Regularly take the pulse on people issues
• Leading regional marketing activities in including internal communications (e.g., regional newsletter, other regional Practice Area leader communications, etc.
Other:
• Work closely with Global People Team Director for Energy on recruiting, people processes, career development
• Working closely with System Capability Talent Manager on pipeline / demand connection to capacity and staffing needs
• Lead one global practice area work stream in collaboration with other regional managers such as People processes, Commercialization or Business Insights
• Collaborate with the global BCG team for supporting and driving various global projects and priorities and drive regional coordination of global practice area management issues with the global Executive Director for the Energy practice
• Collaborate when needed with the Energy knowledge team on Knowledge management within the region
• When necessary, take on project leadership in internal BCG projects with Energy content and other topic advice
• Contribute to practice area projects globally.

• Working independently to identify need for, scope, gain endorsement and drive implementation of commercially impactful initiatives
• Leading others including senior business leaders in clarifying problems and developing solutions by building cross-PA partnerships – building consensus, persuading and influencing.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
• Ideally 8 – 10+ years of relevant experience; previous consulting and/or professional services experience a plus
• Master’s degree preferred
• Role related certifications preferred
• Ability to manage and drive area of accountabilities, contributing to higher level agenda setting
• Ability to lead more complex, broader sub functional teams or projects fully independently and provide direction to others
• Ability to resolve complex issues and non-defined problems autonomously, with full business acumen
• Strong interpersonal skills, credibility
• Ability to influence senior members of the PA and beyond
• Ability to respect sensitive client, BCG, and people related information as personal and confidential
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will work closely with the Regional & Global Practice Area Leaders in the Energy Practice and their leadership teams when setting the strategic agenda and driving implementation. For additional tasks, you will collaborate with the Global Practice Area Executive Director, Practice Area Coordinators, Sector / Topic Managers, HR and Marketing within the PA. Further interfaces exist with other Regional Managers as well as global and regional BCG functions and teams as needed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG’s Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package described below.
We expect total annualized compensation for Washington DC-based employees to be approximately the following:
• Base salary between $128,000- $164,000 (USD); placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level
• Annual discretionary performance bonus between 0-20%
• 5% Profit Sharing Retirement Fund (PSRF) contribution, increasing to 10% after two years of service. Contributions are vested immediately and there is no waiting period
• First year annualized target total compensation: $147,800 – $189,400 (USD)
