We’re extremely proud of our portfolio of brands, our achievements in sustainability and industrialization and the groundbreaking work accomplished by our people.Reporting to the Plant Engineer, the Mold/Maintenance Technician is responsible for achieving a high level of reliability for mold and plant equipment through performing tasks required to maintain equipment and minimize downtime. This individual will use their training and knowledge to perform equipment/process/system maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, make repairs and identify opportunities for improvement.You will be responsible for safely performing preventive and breakdown repairs on all production equipment (specializing in the plastic injection molding department), building mechanical maintenance and related systems.Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have the ability to work with various teams and be an effective problem solver. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, calibrations, and repair of all injection molds.What you will be doing:• Become a subject matter expert.• Strong hands-on injection molding processing and troubleshooting abilities.• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation/set-up of complex injection molding equipment.• Setting and adjusting injection molds prior to production.• Ability to start and shut down mold machines.• Ensure molds are production ready and provide guidance to injection mold machine operators.• Perform machining, polishing, and welding as needed.• Manufacture core pins and/or injection mold inserts as needed.• Document injection mold repair and time spend on jobs.• Accurately use gauges, calipers, etc. to check injection molds, fixtures, and fixture quality.• Assist and communicate with key personnel regarding status of injection mold repairs.• Ability to install, troubleshoot, test, repair and maintain plant and production equipment.• Provides training to other employees as required.• Maintains accurate downtime records by noting cycle time and cavities.• Ability to perform with minimal supervision and direction.• Strong organizational skills with ability to execute responsibilities and prioritize in a multitask environment.• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.• Maintains effective working relationships.• Knowledge of Sonoco manufacturing processes, procedures and machinery.• Manual dexterity required for working with tools, operating machinery and computers.• Identify opportunities and participate in a continuous improvement (CI) environment.• Creates, documents and performs strong preventive/predictive maintenance tasks/procedures to eliminate equipment downtime as assigned.• Assist other maintenance personnel with repairs, PM’s, and rebuilds.• Collaborating closely with other departments and teams.• Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area.• Performing all duties to support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.• Have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.• Work independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.• Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.• Ability to work overtime/weekends as needed to complete projects and repairs.• Physically able to lift 50lbs• Understand and participate in 5S activities.• Other requirements per management discretion.Testing:• Must be able to pass Sonoco Electrical Safety Work Practices – Category 2 within 6 months of awarded position – no exceptions.Experience Needed / We’d like to hear from you if:• 2-3 years’ experience performing injection molding processing, injection mold setups or similar work using tools and machinery related to injection molding.• 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or installing manufacturing equipment, including pneumatic and/or hydraulic equipment and rotating equipment.We care about the health and wellness of you and your family.
