Overview
JOB DUTIES
Under the direction of the appropriate manager (Director, Practice Administrator, Operations Manager or Office Manager), supervises and coordinates the day-to-day clinic activities and personnel issues for the back office staff located in the ambulatory setting. Acts as a liaison with staff, departments/practices and patients.
Essential Functions
• Performs all Medical Assistant functions.
• Implements and provides appropriate clinical support in conjunction with the planned activities of the ambulatory setting in order to provide adequate support for the medical providers.
• With guidance from immediate manager, assists with personnel and payroll functions for assigned personnel including, but not limited to participating in the hiring process, training process and continuous coaching and feedback for the staff in relation to their performance.
• Ensures appropriate budgetary standards are implemented for labor and supply monitoring.
• Ensures compliance of regulatory and organizational policies and procedures with the clinical staff, and recommends changes in policies and procedures as identified.
• Participates in regulatory and proficiency checks for quality management and accreditation requirements.
• Implements and monitors process for testing result maintenance of all tests/referrals made to other departments for physician staff.
• Institutes and maintains a high level of customer service in the back office area in regards to patient, physician and inter-departmental contact made in person or by telephone.
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.

Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

• Ability to provide dynamic customer service using various techniques including positive language, calming presence, attentiveness, clear communication, and patience.
Clinical Duties
• Thorough knowledge of clinical support functions to include special procedures, venipuncture, specimen collection and processing.
Computers/Technology
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, 10-key, and database management.
Teamwork
• Team player with a talent for clear communication, active listening, dependability, collaboration, and conflict management.
Experience Requirements
2 years Experience in a physician office required
1 year Medical Assistant experience in same or similar specialty required
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Certification/Licensure Requirements
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required at time of hire
Registered Medical Assistant – Nationally Certified preferred at time of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
