Salary range is $21.63/hour to $48.07/hour, with a midpoint of $31.25/hour. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

This is a direct hire temporary position with an expected assignment duration of up to 12 months.
General Purpose
Under general direction, the Marketing Coordinator supports Agency goals of ridership retention/acquisition and Sound Transit brand awareness. The Marketing Coordinator will be assigned to assist with marketing activities for the social media program and events with a focus on new service openings/rail activation in 2024 and 2025. The coordinator will create and maintain project schedules and coordinate asset production including working with creative teams. Event support includes public-facing events with logistics and technical support and working with vendors. Social and content production assignments will include publishing content on social media channels and the Platform blog and producing marketing emails. Must be a clear and concise writer and exhibit developing project management skills.
Essential Functions
The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
• Supports the Agency’s social media and content program, assisting with content tracking and assignments and publishing content to various channels including social media and soundtransit.org.
• Supports the Agency’s event marketing program; assisting with grand openings, new service launches, rider appreciation and service promotions.
• Supports event lead including tracking event schedule, assignments and deliverables, and budget. In addition, as assigned; speaking programs and invitations, site plans, on-site materials and giveaways, refreshments, parking and transportation plans, and any necessary permits.
• On-site event coordination. Includes assisting with set up and tear down.
• Supports communications and marketing strategy and planning as needed including project coordination; developing and tracking schedules, assignments, budgets and asset production, and ad trafficking. Meeting coordination including scheduling, attendee communications, agenda setting, note taking, and tracking follow up/assignments.
• Champions and models Sound Transit’s core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Associate’s degree in Communications, Marketing or a closely related field; Three years of experience in marketing/communications, event coordination, marketing internship or related role; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
• Marketing and event planning principles and practices including integrated communications coordination.
• Sound Transit, its current services, and system expansion plans.

• Establishing relationships and working collaboratively with teams across disciplines to meet deadlines and produce quality products.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to multitask.
• Coordinating work plans, including tracking deliverables, deadlines and assignments, facilitating review and approval processes, fact-checking, proofreading, and applying established standards to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality.
• Utilizing creative thinking to help with event planning, campaigns, and other promotions.
• Software programs such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Knowledge And Skills
• Other communications functions such as public relations and visual design.
• Ability to learn new computer software and web-based applications.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
• Most work is performed in a standard/hybrid office environment. Some work is done out in the field, preparing for and producing events and social media content.
• Positions working in field may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and/or extreme noise.
