TITLE: Marketing Associate – Layout Designer
PURPOSE: To support the Communications Department in creating a cohesive visual strategy using expertise in layout design, graphic design, media, and production across multiple platforms. This role also involves contributing to creative concept discussions, designing both digital and print marketing materials, and ensuring consistency across all church communications.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to the Director of Communications
HOURS/POSITION: Part-time, Non-exempt 20 hours/week
LOCATION: Hybrid, Remote work and in-person hours as required at 12 W. 12th St., New York, NY 10011
EDUCATION: Four-year related degree from an accredited program completed or in progress

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Layout Design and Graphic Design
• Create high-quality visual content, including publications, livestream assets, bulletins, brochures, posters, banners, external ads, and collateral, ensuring cohesive layout and design in line with The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York brand standards across print, web, and social media channels.
• Develop unique, visually compelling, and conceptual brand solutions for various projects.
• Translate the First Church brand experience to appropriate channels, including online, social media, and livestream, working with third-party production partners when appropriate.
• Develop overall layout and production design for internal and external brochures, reports, and corporate events.
• Assist with the execution of design projects, including inspiration, branding, digital brochures, and website design.

2. Website & Newsletters
• Create weekly newsletters within Constant Contact, consistent with brand style.
• Manage and oversee any website development and regular website maintenance.
• Manage the production process of all physical and digital assets, including production timelines, sourcing materials, and managing cost.
• Create weekly worship assets across all platforms, including the print bulletin and livestreaming graphics, to create a seamless First Church brand experience.
3. Collaboration & Project Management
• Work closely with the Communications Director and other team members to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and meet the highest standards of quality.
• Actively participate in creative concept discussions, taking detailed notes to capture key points, feedback, and action items.
• Maintain an attentive and proactive approach, with a keen eye for identifying and correcting errors in design and content.
• Assist in strategy for growth and media best practices.
• Demonstrate the ability to take constructive criticism and quickly implement changes to improve the quality of work.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quick turnarounds while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proactively keep the Communications Director informed of project statuses and any potential challenges, always approaching issues with solution-oriented thinking.
• Exhibit strong organizational skills to manage your workload effectively, staying on track with deadlines and reaching out to key team members as needed to keep projects moving forward.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Four-year related degree from an accredited program in progress or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Experience in a design, consultancy, media, or advertising environment.
o Mastery in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite with expertise specifically in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
o Copy-editing experience and excellent eye for proofreading.
o Extensive knowledge of layout, typography, color systems, and design principles.
o Expert knowledge of print production.
o Background in the use of XHTML/CSS.
o Graphic design asset management.
o Web Production and WordPress Business.
o Good project management skills with the ability to multi-task with tight deadlines and quick turnarounds.
o Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team on a timeline.
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey narrative through graphic design.
o Ability to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
o Ability to work remotely with consistent collaboration with the supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using Elementor for WordPress
• Copywriting is a plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30,000.00 per year
