We are seeking a full-time Engineering Technician to join our AFL Hyperscale team in Kent, WA. The Engineering Technician position is responsible for the creation of product drawings, creation of specifications, technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical product support for Production, Solutions, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Sales teams. This role shall primarily support products built in the North America facilities with limited interaction in teams supporting global production. Assignments are typically focused and short-term in duration and requires knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to make good decisions as to support the AFL business.
Responsibilities
• Creates detailed drawings and models for the purpose of part or product reproduction by teams internal or external to the organization.
• Defines, modifies, and enhances new and existing processes, drawings, presentations, and specifications, from requirements supplied by Engineering, Solutions, Quality, and other internal teams.
• Work with internal and external suppliers of materials, equipment, and services to execute projects, resolve problems, and improve processes.
• Interacts with internal customers on technical and quality related topics or issues.
• Completion of engineering assigned tasks within agreed timescales.
• Provides specifications along with standards required for manufacture or purchase of parts.
• In Collaboration with Product Engineer, initiates, scrutinizes and execute Engineering Change Notices and Engineering Change Orders when required to improve manufacturing or meet customer requirements.
• Develop or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in quality, cost, or efficiency of automation.
• Creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) for products
• Develop manufacturing cost estimates based on the BOM and manufacturing time studies.
• Develop or modify packaging and labeling specifications for new or modified products.
• Assist with addressing product quality issues and/or complaints.
• Support Quality and Procurement with the proper instructions for a First Article Inspection (FAI) and support Product Engineer with Validation runs when needed (V&V) and/or create instructions for temporary changes that affects any order (TCAs).

Qualifications
• Associate degree in Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent experience.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in product development, product production, or process engineering
• Proficient technical and third person writing skills.
• Experience in electronics and mechanical systems
• Experience with fiber optic assembly and test methods preferred.
• Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems such as Great Plains, Oracle, or SAP preferred.
• Experience involving 3D and other drafting tools, production drawings; specifically, proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM.
• Proficiency in using MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• High work ethics and sense of urgency
