The Opportunity
Our location in Lake Forest, IL currently has an opportunity for a Supply Optimization Manager. This position will support Abbott’s Toxicology business unit, working out of our Rapid Diagnostics HQ location in Lake Forest, IL. Abbott’s rapid diagnostic tests allow healthcare professionals and their patients to get same-day results. For healthcare workers, this means they can diagnose and advise their patients in a single office visit. For patients, quicker results mean earlier treatment, less anxiety, less time and money spent on repeat doctor visits and a faster return to good health.
The position is responsible for maximizing product availability while optimizing inventory over the long-term planning horizon. Position will influence members of the extended supply chain enterprise as well as cross functional teams in finance, commercial, marketing, customer service, and other areas to create strategies for network optimization and inventory. The position will manage supply risks and uncertainty and plan mitigations to respond to dynamic business conditions.
What You’ll Work On
• Inventory: Reduction of inventory to reduce capital, Standards Revision Variance (SRV) and distressed inventory impact on the P&L.
• Analysis: Develops tools to test the cost, flexibility, and efficiency of the network.
• Strategy: Collaborate with business units & external third-party providers to identify and document key assumptions that could impact the supply network and develop strategies for efficient response to changes (ex. lead time, on-time, in-full performance, and so on). Drive a standardized supply planning approach throughout the Toxicology global supply chain to streamline manufacturing and purchasing plans, align inventory projections through consistent reporting, and consolidate global performance KPIs.
• Performance: Provides guidance and direction to teammates to ensure consistent execution to and escalation of deviations from, agreed strategies.
• Service: Maximize customer experience through product availability and on time delivery.
• Financial: Accurate projection and reduction of distressed inventory (excess & obsolescence). Installation and execution of quarterly review process in partnership with Toxicology finance to ensure continued visibility to supply chain risks.
• Compliance: Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures & contracts.
Accountability / Scope
• This role reports directly to the Toxicology Supply Chain Director and will be managing global Toxicology inventory, excess & obsolescence risk, third party manufacturer lead time and performance assumptions, and cross-BU Abbott relationships.
• Represents Supply interests during new product introduction and the life cycle management of the product.
• Influences the Rapid Diagnostics manufacturing sites, Third Party providers and Distribution Center supply chain teams.
• Interacts with Marketing, Commercial, and Finance teams for inventory reduction and delivery of customer service expectations.
• Leads the reduction of Toxicology inventory throughout the global supply chain network.
• Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial complexity and strategic impact to the organization.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business Management) or combination experience and education in related work background required.
• Supply Chain experience required; minimum of 5+ years related work experience.
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, negotiating, and general “people skills”
• Excellent written and oral communications skills with particular attention to detail.
• Proficient with MS Excel and PowerPoint and presenting to executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA preferred.
• Supply Chain and Project Management certifications preferred.
• Power BI experience preferred.
• Significant ERP (ex. SAP, Sage, Great Plains, etc) experience preferred.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
