Summary:
The Manager, Ambulatory Coding Education & Clinical Documentation will be directly responsible for the oversight of the Health System’s Provider Coding Education Program and the Ambulatory Clinical Documentation Improvement and HCC Risk Diagnosis capture initiatives. The position will manage a team of Coding Educator & CDI Specialists and will work with them to perform chart reviews, identify deficiencies and trends, create education plans/strategies and work directly with Catholic Health Physician Enterprise leadership to improve the documentation so that E/M level billing and HCC diagnosis capture is appropriate. This position is responsible for communicating documentation and professional coding regulations, policies, and guideline changes to all applicable parties across the health system and will serve as a documentation and coding subject matter expert.
The manager will also provide an escalation point for team members in preparation and delivery of materials, particularly when disagreements of perspective and interpretation occur. The position will oversee the establishment and ongoing of metrics reporting and the dissemination of this information to the various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree or above is required
• One of the following credentials is required: RN, LPN, CCS-P, CPC, CRC, or other coding credential
EXPERIENCE
• Extensive clinical and Coding knowledge and understanding of pathophysiology demonstrated by at least five (5) years of experience in E/M coding or nursing
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
• Excellent management skills and ability to manage various competing priorities

• Must have the ability to create, design and publish various educational programs that are professional, appropriate and grammatically correct
• Strong critical thinking skills and utilization of clinical knowledge to identify potential clinical indicators supporting patient acuity and clarifications of the medical record

• Possesses strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated success at communicating effectively with all levels of the organization

• Demonstrates skilled ability and comfort with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
• Proficient with personal computer applications (Excel, Word and Power Point)
• Strong problem solving and investigative skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
