In the ambulatory clinic, LPNs and Medical Assistants collaborate to deliver direct and indirect patient care services. You will participate in the healthcare team’s provision of services, ensuring that each patient’s needs are met. Job Description
Essential Functions:
• Sets up the examination and treatment areas thoroughly in compliance with clinic standards.
• Implements the necessary measures to complete patient rooming protocols, which encompass recording vital signs, gathering data, and other identified elements unique to the clinic domain and within the listed Scope of Responsibilities.
• Following detailed clinic guidelines, effectively gives patient medications or vaccines pre-measured into individual dosages while maintaining a detailed record of all actions taken.
• The clinic can conduct EKG’s and laboratory testing as per their CLIA certificate after meeting training and evaluation requirements.
• Accuracy, clarity, and conciseness are key elements of the documentation process in the patient’s record, as per outlined responsibilities. Scribing is a potential role for the individual after successful training.
• Executes all directed administrative functions and safeguards the proper care and ordering of office inventory.
• Helps patients plan and schedule their upcoming medical appointments and follow-up visits as per their healthcare provider’s recommendations.
• Patients are offered patient education resources that have been pre-printed or pre-approved. Patients should seek advice from the provider or registered nurse for any queries or questions.
• The documented Monument Health scope of responsibilities defining roles and responsibilities.
• All incidental obligations as mandated.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education – High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility
Certification – **Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) within 6 months of hire; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification – American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire
• * Any Medical Assistant hired and employed with MH before July 1, 2021 has until Jan 1, 2022 to be certified as a Medical Assistant. Any Medical Assistant hired and starting employment after July 1, 2021 obtain certification with 6 months of hire.
Preferred:
Education – Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
Certification – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing
Experience – 1+ years of Clinical Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
Physical Requirements:
Exposure to blood, tissues, or other bodily fluids is a possibility in this job and would require the use of protective gear and caution.
