Empire State University is seeking a Lecturer of Psychology and Human Development in our School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The school is looking for someone with expertise in areas of general psychology and human/child development.
SUNY Empire faculty provide mentoring to students in their academic program, including identifying opportunities for credit for prior learning. SUNY Empire supports faculty in their work with students and provides professional development activities that enhance their teaching and mentoring skills. A highly distributed organization, SUNY Empire makes extensive use of technological applications for communication, teaching and learning, and administrative purposes.
The Successful Candidate Will
• Develop and teach online courses in Psychology and Human Development.
• Mentor and advise students as they develop degree programs in a broad range of academic areas.
• Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development and academic assessment in the Psychology and Human Development Department.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the faculty role.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• A master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. university or comparable non-U.S. university in psychology, human development, or closely related fields.
• College or university level teaching experience.
• Experience with supporting diverse populations.
• Ability to work in a distributed faculty environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with teaching in online learning environments.
• Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
• Experience with academic and outcomes assessment.
Special Information
• Full-time temporary 12-month position.
• Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.
• Office hours will vary to accommodate student needs.
• Some evening and/or weekend engagement with students is required.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Additional Information
Rank/Salary: Lecturer, $58,000-$65,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
