Job Summary:
The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is looking for an instructor to teach a course, Sustainability in Practice (ES-600) on a short term basis for the Fall 2024 semester. The course will conduct interdisciplinary investigation with an emphasis on real world challenges. It will examine environmental issues and apply, often in a team context, a variety of academic perspectives and methodologies, and cultivate academic and professional abilities such as establishing connections within the larger community, developing strategies for analyzing and addressing problems, developing field skills in ecosystems, and working with others trained in fields different from one’s own.

Responsibilities:
Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.
• 60% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• 10% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• 30% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:
Required
Master’s Degree
Minimum of a master’s degree required in environmental studies, sustainability, or related fields
Qualifications:
– Previous teaching experience
– Previous experience and knowledge of sustainability concepts
Work Type:
Part Time: 33.3% – 50%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal, 4 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Salary:
Minimum $43,071 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications
Final salary will be based on the number of credits and for one semester
Additional Information:
This position has the possibility of being extended, based on instructional need.
