The Role
As a Functional Safety Architect, you will be part of the AMD Functional Safety team and directly impacting the certification of key AMD products, targeting critical AMD growth markets such as digital cockpit and autonomous driving. Your task will be to perform safety analysis and provide technical leadership for the product line safety function and for its customers. You will perform this in close cooperation with different functional owners within AMD.
This challenging role will not only require extensive project leadership skills but also a thorough understanding of system safety standards within the automotive and industrial markets. We are seeking a seasoned Silicon on Chip SoC Architect with expertise. We’re looking for an architect with significant success driving architecture, product roadmaps and product requirements.
The Person
This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can help guide the team, mentor, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You are open minded and positive as you will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development. You have excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrated through technical publications, presentations, trainings, executive briefings, etc. You are highly adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and engineers alike, ready to mentor and guide, and help to elevate the knowledge and skills of the team around you.
Key Responsibilities
• Define product features and capabilities, close architecture, and micro-architecture FuSa requirements, drive technical specifications for SoC and IP blocks to meet those requirements, and provide technical direction to execution teams
• Work with the FuSa Fellow to synchronize the FuSa architects of the team
• Comprehend the FUSA SOC requirements as a complete system which includes HW (Silicon), FW, BIOS & SW and ensure that FW, BIOS & SW are aligned to enable all features, optimizing for FuSa
• Independently complete the Functional Safety task and Analysis
• Performing safety concept exploration and scope evaluation
• Performing the High-level safety analysis (FMEA/FMEDA/FTA DFA, FFI) using the Safety Analysis tools at architectural/concept level and at microarchitectural levels
• Performing the verification planning (including safety verification plan to verify safety metrics, pre-silicon and post silicon)
• Defining and maintaining the Safety Manual
• Be responsible for assessing and determining product line compliance to the ISO/IEC metrics
• Direct re-use of safety cases and re-use of designs through advice, metrics reporting, and timely escalation in order to achieve the required standards of leadership in safety and cost
• Recognize when and how to address critical system safety topics with customers and represent the business in forums
• Participate in evaluations of proposed technical solutions (in decided architecture) with the purpose to judge the possibility of developing and calibrating a SW solution
Preferred Experience
• Outstanding foundation in Systems & SoC architecture, with expertise in one or more of the following: CPU or GPU, Memory sub-system, Fabrics, CPU/GPU coherency, Multimedia, I/O subsystems, Clocks, Resets, Virtualization and Security
• Experience with software development is a plus
• Experience with the ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 standards is a plus
• Extensive knowledge of system safety and monitoring methods is a plus
• Excellent communication, management, and presentation skills.
• Adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and senior architects with strong interpersonal skills to work across teams in different geographies
Academic Credentials
• Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or related field
