About the job
The Food Services Operations team is searching for a Food Service Technician to handle food preparation at the Atrium café in Building R and to foster positive interactions with customers and team members.
As a Food Service Technician, you will:
• Assist with the preparation and cooking of entrée, starches, and vegetables.
• Serve food on the entrée line, as necessary.
• Assist with the preparation of salads and cutting fruits and vegetables for salad bar.
• Prepare dressings and proteins for salad bar.
• Possible grill and deli work in addition to pizza and pasta production (Previous pizzeria experience a plus).
• Follow all health and safety regulations in the preparation and storage of food and in cleanup of all areas of the café.
• Store all foods in an orderly fashion in the proper environment.
• Operates and maintains food service equipment and report repairs and maintenance needs.
• May assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed such as dishroom or beverage bar.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Four years of experience with food preparation in area of responsibility.
• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts, Foodservice, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
• Provides consistently high levels of customer service at all times.
• Ability to follow all health, food, and physical safety regulations in the preparation and storage of food and in cleanup of all areas of the cafe.

Preferred Qualifications
• Basic food service preparation and knife skills.
• Ability to learn the operation of quantity food service equipment such as mixer, dish machine, oven, slicer, food processor and cooking principles.
• Basic skills in reading, writing and arithmetic.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in hot kitchen or with hot water; ability to stand at work table or serving line up to seven hours per day.
