The National Security Sector of Leidos has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician III supporting our Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) contract at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, Rhode Island. An Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or manager as needed, performs recurring work independently.
Primary responsibilities of this position include assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting. Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment. Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors. Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data using established methods. Provides Supervisor/Manager daily status updates. Ability to follow instructions and undertake tasks with minimal supervision.
Basic Qualifications
High school/vocational school diploma or GED certificate and 2+ years electronics repair relevant work experience or a related Technical School or Navy experience.
Experience using general purpose test equipment.
Experience performing tasks using formal work procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret level clearance. Must have a minimum of a DOD Interim secret level clearance to start in this position.

Experience performing electronic repairs at the component level using repair procedures/techniques to document quality standards using formal work procedures and in accordance with documented quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree from a Technical School a plus.
Working knowledge with Solid State Heading Sensors.
Documented completion of soldering training including SMT/SMD.
Operational knowledge and experience with industrial equipment including, but not limited to, sand blasting and PLC controlled equipment.
Knowledge of standard computer operations and Microsoft Office and programming software.
Works independently with judgment, versatility, and initiative.
This role is covered by the Service Contract Act. This position will pay $23.66 per hour.
