Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineering Manager.
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage a team of engineers that support in the development, preparation, implementation, and improvement of final assembly processes for Toyota’s North American Manufacturing Companies (NAMCs).
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Final Assembly Engineering department’s objective to plan and execute assembly process preparations for new model introductions, refurbishment, and kaizen activities across Toyota’s NAMCs.
What you’ll be doing
• Manage and lead a team of engineers in their day-to-day operations to plan and execute model changes, support manufacturing chronic issue resolution and improve operational competitiveness through process/equipment analysis.
• Develop / Manage Capital budgets for the regional office (resources and project responsibilities).
• Support the development of annual operating budgets to support the team’s activities within the fiscal year.
• Coordinate with cross functionally within PE, R&D and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) to implement North American New model requirements for all regional vehicles Unibody & Frame platform to ensure One-Voice and direction setting to achieve company regional objectives and decision making.
• Support FAE planning and regional teams with model change implementation, Hoshin Initiative’s, Innovation, and team member development.
• Develop new plant, process, and capacity increase plans for all NA region manufacturing plants producing Unibody & Frame Platform vehicles.
• Develop and coach team members to help level up skill and conduct performance evaluation including providing honest feedback for the shortfalls and encourage growth.
What you bring
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or 8+ years of equivalent professional experience in an engineering role
• Experience leading and managing a team of Toyota PE engineers and technicians for major model introduction in assembly
• Toyota vehicle unibody and frame Assembly PE experience, including planning and implementing new vehicle model or model change requirements and executing plant capacity increases
• SE experience implementing PE x Manufacturing requirements to the design of vehicle and accessory parts for unibody and frame platform vehicles, master schedule and product design within the NA region (US, Canada and Mexico)
• Major New Model implementation experience, including equipment, conveyor, layout, specification, design and VTO, including plant reborn at multiple Toyota NA facilities
• Ability to work up to 30% overtime, including up to 50% travel, both domestic and international
