We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dedicated healthcare team in the Emergency Department of our rural hospital located in Ogdensburg, NY.
Responsibilities:
• * Conduct thorough initial assessments of patients presenting to the emergency department.
• Initiate appropriate diagnostic tests and interventions based on the patient’s clinical presentation.
• Perform procedures such as wound care, suturing, splinting, and other minor surgical interventions.
• Manage acute and critical conditions, including trauma, cardiac events, respiratory distress, and more.
• Work collaboratively with the emergency department team, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other support staff.
• Consult with specialists and arrange for the transfer of patients requiring advanced care to larger facilities if necessary.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of emergency care services in the rural hospital.
• Maintain current licensure and certifications, including ACLS, PALS, and others as required.
Qualifications:
• Current NY state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant.
• Certification in Emergency Medicine or a related field is preferred.
• Strong clinical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, rural healthcare environment.
• Willingness to be on-call and work variable shifts as needed.
• Dedication to providing high-quality patient care in a rural setting.
