We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to manage smaller projects and to design/implement lighting, power, and fire alarm drawings. As an Electrical Engineer, you will operate with various MEP engineers to develop construction drawings and electrical specifications. You will also manage small-medium projects as assigned and manage projects that are primarily electrical in scope.
The ideal candidate should be looking to grow into a company leadership role as an MEP Project Manager, Associate, or Sr. Electrical Engineer.
Qualifications:
• 2-5 years of experience in electrical engineering at an MEP Consulting firm or MEP Construction firm/GC.
• Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor in Architectural Engineering.
• Must have an existing knowledge of electrical engineering and corresponding terminology and have a general knowledge of MEP design.
• Familiar with Building Codes, National Electrical Code, Energy Code and NFPA 72. Experience in NYC codes.
• Ability to read, interpret, and implement electrical lighting, electrical power, and fire alarm design documentation.
• Excellent work ethic and attitude. Good communication and time management skills.
• Proficient in CAD. Familiar with Revit.
• Must be in the NYC area and willing to commute to the Flatiron District, Manhattan, NYC.
Nice to Have Qualifications:
• The ideal candidate should have EIT certification or be on track to complete it.
• Experience in mentoring interns is a plus.
• Experience in Hospitality (hotels, wellness/spa, restaurants), residential (especially high-end single-family and multi-family), and/or marina work is a plus.
• Working knowledge of lighting control systems and manufacturers is a plus. Experience in foot-candle calculations is a huge plus.
• Interest in the project management of MEP Projects and acting as the external liaison to clients. Previous experience as an external project manager is a huge plus.
Electrical Engineer Duties & Responsibilities:
• Serve as lead (primary responsible) Electrical Engineer on projects as assigned.
• Manage as project manager small-medium projects (primary responsible) or projects where the electrical-only scope is provided. Assigned to projects as needed.
• Responsible for performing quality assurance reviews on projects.
• Drafting technical documentation in CAD and Revit.
• Perform technical calculations as required by electrical design, with supervision from Senior Engineers.
• Providing training and mentoring to junior engineering staff.
• Provide technical support for construction projects.
